Adult Easter Egg Hunt at Rodgers Park, Saturday
There is a new tradition for Easter Egg hunters in the Vinton area. Along with the Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. at Riverside Park, and the hunt for children at Rodgers Park at 11 a.m., a new event begins this year: An Easter Egg Hunt for adults. Prizes include a night of free camping at the park, and a bottle of wine. The adult event takes place after the children's Easter Egg Hunt.
Community conference on youth substance abuse set for April 12
The Benton County Above the Influence Coalition will be sponsoring a Community Conference on Youth Substance Abuse in Vinton, IA on April 12, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church (516 2nd Ave.)
The event will feature half-hour sessions on prescription drug abuse (hosted by professors from the University of Iowa School of Pharmacy), information on new products from tobacco companies, a session on policy development to prevent underage drinking, and lastly a panel of youth to answer questions about substance use in Benton County.

Vinton Women's Club to name Woman of the Year April 24
The Vinton Women's Club will honor its Woman of the Year on Tuesday April 24,2012, at the Vinton Country Club. Dinner begins at 6 P.M.

Former Girl Scouts invited to centennial celebration Saturday
On Saturday, March 31, Girl Scouts in the Wagon Trail Service Unit (Vinton-Shellsburg), will celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting at Blessed Hope Church from 1-4 p.m. with hands-on activities exploring the various facets of our founder Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low .
Any former Girl Scouts or girls/adults interested in what Girl Scouts have to offer are welcome to attend, "It All Began with a Daisy . Breast Cancer Survivors to meet April 3
Breast Cancer Survivors Group is meeting Tuesday, April 3 at Windsor Manor in the dining room. Dinner will be at six o'clock; free will donation. Annual FFA Labor Auction
The annual FFA Labot Action will be held in the high school gym, on Thursday, April 5th, at 7 pm. Funds raised will go toward the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter.

Bowling tournament to raise funds for Lil' Racer Car Club March 24
The 1st Annual “It’s All About the Kids!” Bowling Tournament happens this Saturday March 24th, at Berry’s Lanes 1115 West 1st Street in Vinton, Iowa! For only $12.00 per person, you will receive two hours of bowling ( shoes included). Pop and pizza provided per lane. Special play incentives for the adults AND trophies for the kids! All proceeds to benefit the newly created Benton County Speedway Lil’ Racer Car Club and its Crew Chief, Janice Smith.

The Kiwanis Annual Easter Egg Hunt is April 7, 2012 at Riverside Park, 10:00 a.m. for children 10 & under. Free colored eggs & candy and pictures with the Easter Bunny. In case of bad weather, we will have the hunt at the Vinton Skate Center.
